Birth of Perry - UW Northwest Medical Childbirth Center - Seattle, Wa

Ashley & Ben first started planning for a home birth with the lovely Wildflower Midwifery team. Then, gestational diabetes joined the party, ok ok staying with home birth because it’s being managed well... then preeclampsia joined the party. So the party got moved to UW Northwest. The team there was amazing (as per usual). With a planned induction right around 37 weeks, Ashley had a few bumps in the road, but finally made it to her induction date. We all braced ourselves for a long induction. Ashley is also a fabulous birth doula & birth photographer (Rove Perinatal) and was so prepared! Having all the knowledge can be a blessing and a curse though. Letting yourself be in labor and letting your own labor unfold when you know all the things… is extremely hard!!

Induction began Monday night and by early Tuesday afternoon they had begun pitocin, but Ashley wasn’t feeling very strong contractions. At 4:20 pm OB Anna Panighetti broke Ashley’s water. We all held our breath hoping this would finally kick things up a notch! And boy did it! Perry was born at 9:52 pm!

Welcome to the world Perry!!!!
